About the role

Quantum Health's Software Engineering team is looking to add a passionate and experienced Manager, Software Engineering to help build our next generation of software applications . This role takes ultimate accountability for the software products that are being created, integrated, and implemented by Quantum Health engineering teams . This individual provides leadership to a team of Software Engineers, Business Systems Analysts, and QA Automation Engineer resources in delivering end to end, high quality, secure solutions . The Software Engineering Manager is a constant champion for Quantum's values and pillars . Implementing best practices across multiple disciplines and working across team boundaries to drive consistency and quality makes this a challenging and exciting role.

Quantum Health is uniquely positioned to interact within multiple layers of the healthcare ecosystem: Payors, Providers, and Patients and the software engineering teams are at the forefront of those interactions. This role will help design, build, implement, and support the applications that drive and enhance those interactions.

What you'll do

  • Support the discovery, definition, delivery, and maintenance of software solutions used by Quantum's internal staff and external stakeholders . Closely collaborate with Product and Operations to identify and prioritize the work. Represent the technical viability of business solutions as the technical member of the product, engineering, and operations working team.
  • Manage relationships with partners and vendors who provide capabilities that support the team's work. Consistently achieve business goals on time and on budget.
  • Provide leadership to the team including adherence to best practices, leading team through change with new technologies and tools, and advocating for the advancement of architectural goals. Understand the team's workload, progress and challenges, and help to remove roadblocks.
  • Provide people leadership and oversight to a cross-functional team, including but not limited to alignment with company objectives, coaching, career development, succession planning, talent review, performance management, etc.
  • Support the production environment as priority one. Ensure system uptime and usability expectations are met, and production defects are managed in a timeframe appropriate to the company impact.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams, including software, data, and platform teams, to ensure consistent practices across the department and forward momentum toward shared architectural goals. Identify knowledge and training gaps and create learning opportunities through targeted assignments, stretch opportunities, mentoring, internal knowledge sharing and external learning opportunities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in technology or related field or equivalent experience
  • Strong leadership skills developed with a minimum 5 years' experience leading engineering teams
  • Experience with architectural design and ability to drive consensus on design and approach, including frameworks, languages, and build/buy conversations
  • Experience working directly within engineering teams, and track record of leveraging technology to solve business problems of varying degrees of complexity
  • A deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, modern engineering practices like TDD, test automation, CI/CD pipelines, secure design, scalability, and resiliency
  • High degree of technical competency, ability to learn new technology quickly, aptitude for details and ability to make both strategic and tactical decisions
  • Ability to analyze and estimate resource capacity needed both with a current state focus and longer-term roadmap view in mind
  • Experience partnering with product, operations, vendors, partners, and other technology departments to ensure proper prioritization and execution of the work required to deliver business value
  • Ensure team's success by managing work intake, backlog, planning, deliverables, and execution, with a focus on enabling the team to balance their workload
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including influencing and ability to encourage innovation
  • Highly collaborative, willingness and demonstrated ability to work in teams, proven relationship-building skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, good attention to detail
  • Protect and take care of our company and member's data every day by committing to work within our company ethics and policies
  • Strong administrative/technical skills; Comfort working on a PC using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), IM/video conferencing (Teams & Zoom), and telephones efficiently.
