Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) has an immediate opening for a Project Engineering Sponsor as part of our expanding and highly successful Water group based in Lenexa, KS, USA.

You will be in a Senior Project Management role within our collaborative and engaging organization that is developing water infrastructure solutions that seamlessly transition from project development to design plans to completed projects that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.At Kiewit, Project Engineering Sponsors provide engineering focused guidance and oversight of Engineering Project Managers and their teams during pursuits, project development, estimating, project initiation, design management, execution, and closeout within the Water/Wastewater market segments. Sponsors are typically responsible for multiple project teams at various stages of execution and requires proactive communication, coordination, and follow-up to meet the project goals and objectives and ensuring project scope work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood.

The Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and control, structural, civil and buildings disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge Kiewit district with best-in-class technical expertise primarily focused on collaborative Design-Build (progressive and/or fixed price) and EPCC delivery models for complex water projects. The team brings project solutions to life across North America in the following areas: Water Treatment Potable Municipal and Groundwater Desalination Advanced Water Reuse Groundwater Remediation Stormwater Recycling Industrial Water Treatment Wastewater Treatment Biosolids Treatment Pipelines and ConveyanceLocationThis role will be based out of Kiewit's Lone Tree, CO (Denver area) office. Remote work locations will be fully considered.

ResponsibilitiesStrategic LeadershipAssist and support Executive leadership with short-term and long-term strategy development and business initiatives within the organizationFunction as an established representative of Kiewit's brand, readily supporting business development and integral to the win strategy of pursuits.Collaborate with the regional Water Markets & Strategy professionals as the primary engineering contact to interface with customers to support project and business development needs (client meetings, proposal messaging, interviews).Develop strategic plans for new business opportunities and foster long-term customer relationshipsCommunicate/present industry trends, competitive situations, or technology/regulatory issues that impact Kiewit execution strategiesIdentify current and future pursuit and/or project risks along with development of mitigation strategiesManage and interpret data and results for multiple projects such that sound business decisions can be made based on these resultsPursuit & Project Performance LeadershipCollaborative senior management responsibility during the SOQ/RFP proposal development phases for pursuit opportunities ensuring technical design contract compliance, design execution strategy development, technical proposal content accuracy, risk assessments and performance guaranteesSenior management leadership for concurrent multiple internal and external engineering teams on municipal infrastructure and industrial water facility designs while ensuring that all contractual design and permitting requirements are metSenior management responsibility for project engineering performance: financial, integrated schedule, client relations, deliverable quality, project technical risk mitigation, performance guarantees, and technical design contract complianceDrive execution certainty through review and enforcement of project procedures consistent with contractual documents, quality plans and corporate policies for all engineering workAble to change focus from internal to external, building relationships with customers, partners, and project stakeholdersEstablish and maintain sponsor-level zippering relationships with customers, other Kiewit functions/districts, subcontractors, and key technology providers throughout the project lifecycleShare best practices and execution experience to set project teams up for successCommunity/Industry LeadershipInvolvement in the community and industry as an influential leader through participation in organizations and membershipsMentorshipProvide technical mentorship of engineering and design staff to become future leaders by assisting in employee development, training, recruiting, retention.

QualificationsBachelor's Degree in engineering in any discipline from an accredited universityAdvanced Technical or Business Degree - MS, MBA (preferred)Professional Engineer (PE) registration20+ years' experience in project/program management, engineering design, estimating, and start-up/commissioning of municipal water/wastewater projects with focus on Design-Build/EPC project deliveryKnowledge and application of alternative project delivery methods (PDB, FPDB, CMAR, DBOOM, DBFOM, P3).Demonstrated success as a Project Director, Project Manager or Program Manager on collaborative design-build/EPCC projectsWell versed and knowledgeable in supplier, vendor, designer, and subcontractor coordination and interface managementAppreciation and understanding of the operations of other functions (eg Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, SQS, Business Management, Estimating, etc.)Capable of autonomous management of multiple projects and personnelHighly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiativeStrong work ethic and willingness to do what it takes to get the job doneDemonstrated commitment to ethics and integrityStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills, including reporting and presentingTeam player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectivesFocuses on building trusting teams, collaborative and strives for excellence in project outcomesWilling and available to accommodate travel as business requiresRequirements: Regular, reliable attendance Work productively and meet deadlines timely Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment Perform work safely and effectively.
