ResponsibilitiesDevelop right-accuracy surrogate models used for real-time simulation, performance predictions, and various analysisCollaborate with simulation, loads, and controls engineers to determine required model accuracyIterate on models as new data becomes available from higher fidelity CFD methods, windtunnel, and flight testDevelop and improve the software methods behind the modeling tools and workflows Support verification and validation activities that rely on the model outputsRequiredAn advanced degree (PhD/MS/MEng) in related discipline and 2+ yrs industry experience. A university degree in related discipline and 5+ yrs industry experience will also be considered.Fundamental and expert-level understanding of statistical learning methods and different surrogate and regression modeling techniques and approachesExpert-level knowledge of aerodynamics of subsonic flight and of propeller Familiarity and proficiency with Python.

Proficiency with professional software development practices.DesiredFamiliarity with cloud computing platformsExperience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD pipelines Matlab proficiencyCompensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $133,500 - $178,000/yr.
