Senior Business Analyst - SOX Compliance

My client is seeking a Senior Business Analyst (SBA) to be the IT lead on in supporting the development and deployment of the SOX Compliance program. This role will work directly with Finance, Risk Management, and Operations business leadership to define the SOX compliance footprint and in providing the documentation/testing to validate SOX compliance.

The business focus areas include generation operations, commercial, financial, health-safety-environmental, human resources, and legal. Responsibilities include: Engaged in the buildout and implementation of the SOX Compliance Program. This role will have key responsibilities in the data integration from the legacy systems to the new systems.

Develop hands on knowledge of the ERP, financial consolidation, and reporting applications to investigate issues, identify root causes, recommend, and drive resolutions. Able to demonstrate a strong finance background and proficiency in the development, integration, and support of core finance systems and reporting services. Provide daily support to stakeholders on new requests or incidents related to the business applications.

Proactively communicate and collaborate with business system owners and end users to analyze information needs and functional requirements. Perform and review system configurations to ensure the configuration of the functional modules align with the designed business processes and perform updates as required. Act as the liaison between Finance, Commercial, and Operational business units, Technology teams and Vendors.

Proactively identify areas for improvement regarding the financial applications and existing or new business processes. Facilitate the collection of business requirements, understand, analyze and translate them into system requirements, configurations and customizations. CompetenciesStrong knowledge of core ERP enabled business cycles, specifically related to accounting function.

Experience working with auditors to develop and document processes and controls in a SOX environment. Including experience with ITGC and SDLC controls development and SOX readiness. Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines; able to work effectively in ambiguous or changing situations; ability to manage time effectively.

Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. Ability to identify problems and deal with situations and issues proactively. Demonstrate a critical and creative mindset with all new requests received from stakeholders.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and affectively with executives, managers, and subject matter experts. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a conscientious, consistent, and thorough manner. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.

Functional experience with Netsuite, SAP Concur, OneStream, Hartigen PowerOptix, Basware, and Kyriba would be considered an asset. Qualifications5+ years of professional experience in a finance/accounting role or similar experience as a Business Analyst, serving mainly the accounting/finance group is required. Finance, Accounting, or related degree would be considered a strong asset.

Computer Science experience with formal training in the areas of ERP, Accounts Payable, and Commercial systems would be considered an asset. Experience integrating financial data into a reporting data mart and developing financial reporting is considered an asset. Netsuite implementation experience specifically the financial modules and NSPB Netsuite Planning & Budgeting modules.
