Senior Software Developer

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Responsible for analysing, developing, testing and supporting highly complex application software, primarily for the One Global Reference Data System (OGRDS) platform: Analyze and design technology solutions for new OGRDS and other initiatives, present proposed design and strategy to design and portfolio teams, write technical documents on routines, applications, as well as maintenance and optimization best practices, to help developers understand the solution design, and provide periodic updates and demonstrations to requesters and business units about the progress of the development and delivery. Write detailed design and code reviews, making necessary changes to business use cases, and conduct code review. Plan and conduct software testing. Create proof of concepts (POC) and solution designs for architecture and technology stack simplification and platform improvements. Identify cost-efficient tools and software to replace existing technology. Research, assess and facilitate the adoption of new technologies, working with outside vendor partners. Enhance and optimize data delivery (publication). Investigate software defects and application incidents for missing or incorrect functionality, and provide a quick resolution to address them. Identify potential areas of improvement that would help to reduce the cycle time. Convert required changes into developer-friendly technical requirements. Design and develop new components that could help identify, report and prevent production failures in advance. Guide and oversee (without supervisory authority) approximately 5 junior developers, ensuring task completion and timely solutions delivery. Includes the opportunity to telecommute from within the Chicago, IL area up to 2 days per week, as feasible. Tools used include: Java, J2EE, PL/SQL, Python, ElasticSearch, and Oracle.

FOR THIS ROLE, WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE:

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field with an information technology focus (foreign equivalent degree acceptable) plus 3 years of experience in software development (would also accept a bachelor's degree plus 5 years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience). This must include: 3 years of experience in/with: use of master data management principles; use of software design and testing principles; development of Java and/or J2EE applications; PL/SQL; Oracle database technologies; use of analytical and problem-solving skills to solve complex design and coding problems; and working as a member of a team. 2 years of experience in/with: search engines such as ElasticSearch and/or Apache Drill. 1 year of experience in/with: Web Services and Python.
