We build and enhance clinical decision support platforms which automate guidelines and other clinical evidence for use by physicians at the point of care. Position Description

Reporting to CDS Director, the Senior Application Architect is responsible for the innovative technology strategy and our roadmap for our Clinical Decision Support suite of tools. The position will serve as influential leader on the team to provide the vision through research and recommendations of new technologies, use of software patterns and will provide proof of concepts, standards and best practices for its usage. This role is highly collaborative with our development team tech leads to provide architectural guidance.

Minimum Requirements

15 years' experience in software engineering and/or software architecture

Critical Skills

. Experience with design patterns in the creation of architectural deliverables

. Agile development environment experience using Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban and Lean

. Excellent knowledge of web services technologies, such as REST and SOA

. Experience with expert systems, rules engines, DSLs, rules authoring systems and clinical domain languages

. 3-5 years of experience in database design, development, normalization and use of SQL

. 4 years of experience of product development and web development

. Web development:

. 4 years of Ruby on Rails experience (less if significant healthcare software experience)

. JavaScript frameworks (Ember)

. DevOps: AWS OpsWorks, Linux/Unix, PostgreSQL

Additional Knowledge and Skills

. Experience working with rules engines or the semantic web such as OWL, Protege, Pellet, automatic rule discovery and learning, SPARQL, RDF

. Experience with graph computing technologies, as applied to the health domain

. Testing experience with selenium or similar test automation tools (used for second line test automation and automation of content tests)

. Behavior Driven Development (BDD) experience using rspec, cucumber, spinach, turnip

. Source code control with Git

. Continuous Integration (with CircleCI)

. Familiarity with annotation frameworks such as UIMA, Gate, OntoText, MinorThird

. Familiarity with HL7, FHIR and clinical terminologies

. Experience with security and privacy standards; eg HIPAA, HITRUST

. Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers and management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in

. Critical thinking skills, ability to accurately analyze information and make sound decisions

. Ability to take initiative and accountability for achieving results

. Excellent written, verbal, and diagrammatic communication skills

. Excellent time management, communications, decision making, presentation and organization skills

Education

4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience. PhD or MS in Computer Sciences or Engineering preferred
