Job Description:

We are seeking a self-motivated and reliable individual with a positive attitude and a strong mechanical/technical aptitude to join our 8 person IT Department.

In this position, the candidate will provide telephone support, using remote connection software, and direct on-site support, to our retail locations (100+) in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, on Point of Sale (POS) software and hardware (cash register) issues as well as connected devices, PCs and network equipment, referring the more advanced problems to level 2 or level 3 support. The focus is on identifying resolutions quickly and efficiently using the troubleshooting techniques provided, making empowered decisions on user issues and resolving problems using discretion and independent judgment. After training, candidate will work on the help desk as well as in the field (2-3 days per week) traveling to remote sites to install equipment, perform repairs, and provide preventative maintenance using a company vehicle. Travel may (rarely) include overnight stays at company expense. Training will be provided on POS systems in-house and at the developers facility in Florida. Opportunities are available to acquire hands-on learning in other areas of IT and in IT certification training at company expense. This is an entry level position into Information Technology.

Job requirements:

Successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong customer service skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and an attention to detail. A strong familiarity with Microsoft products (XP and Office); ability to identify opportunities to educate users on proper software functionality and document same and strong multitasking abilities are also a must. Ideal candidate would have experience in a Help Desk environment supporting in-house software/hardware POS applications. Industry experience with Verifone POS systems a real plus. Off-hours (24/7) on-call support as part of an on-call rotation (1 week out of 4) is required. Must be detail and quality oriented, responsible, and organized with a strong work ethic. Ability to lift 75 lbs. or more and a good driving record required.

Education Requirements:

Minimum of high school diploma. 2 or 4 year technical degree desired. CompTIA A+ and/or Network + Certifications a plus. Education and Certification training assistance available to qualified employees.
