This position is a customer facing engineering support position that works collaboratively with customers, engineers, technical staff, and co-workers to support the successful build/repair of the Aegis weapon systems. Primary duties include:

Under direction of Engineering function, analyzes, directs, coordinates, creates and maintains the manufacturing processes and the electrical/electromechanical test and inspection processes for Aegis.

Perform system level test and electrical/electromechanical in-process inspection of Aegis assemblies and subassemblies, as well as supporting production, coordination of instrument calibration, failure analysis and corrective action.

Perform duties under supervision in a process engineering role. Ability to develop and create and perform work from process sheets, work plannings, blue prints, diagrams, engineering sketches, work instructions, and tooling and equipment in support of the quality, safety and productivity objectives.

Ability to identify and utilize various resources to improve process efficiency in all areas of production (inspection and testing methods, material handling, etc.).

Establish, monitor, and improve manufacturing processes by applying lean manufacturing and six sigma principles or equivalent methods to the production area.

Independently resolves and expedites issues that may hinder meeting objectives. Determines the cause of rejections and use proven troubleshooting practices to identify the necessary corrective/prevent actions. Disposition non-conforming material and implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions. Develop and update special work instructions and/or rework or repair instructions as needed.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen events, 5Ss, Kanbans and QCO (Quick Change over) teams, Design for Manufacturability, quality and cost reduction initiatives). Work closely with production operators and technicians and suppliers to reduce waste and optimize efficiency. Ability to define and improve the value stream and process capabilities for the Aegis manufacturing processes and equipment.

Works with integrity in all aspects of job. Communicates effectively with the customer and works collaboratively with various functional groups, including Engineering, Quality, Supervision, Assemblers, Inspection etc. Self starter that can adapt to varying assignments and priorities, and multitask various projects.

Support testing and field work at customer location - must be able to achieve Secret clearance.

Ability to train and develop Assemblers and Inspectors to meet various certifications and inspection requirements, eg, J-STD soldering and soldering repair practices, electro static discharge (ESD), and in-process inspection requirements.Basic Qualifications: [ONLY THOSE WHO MEET THE BASIC QUALIFICATIONS WILL BE CONSIDERED AN APPLICANT] eg years of experience, education, special skills, etc...

Two year degree in technical field, such as mechatronics, electromechanical, etc., or equivalent experience.

Military and/or work experience with Aegis systems; and prefer experience/training related to Electro Static Discharge (ESD) and J-STD Soldering practices and in-process inspection.

Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

Able to read and interpret basic engineering drawings/sketches/blue prints/diagrams/solid models and translate basic requirements into a step by step recipe for manufacture.

Ability to use oscilloscopes and digital multimeters for troubleshooting of cable and harness assemblies, circuit card assemblies (CCA's) and complex electromechanical systems.

Strong communication skills, including ability communicate within all levels of the organization and to educate/train peers and production employees.

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
