Supports and maintains information security systems in use at Bangor Savings Bank.

This position is responsible for ensuring deployed systems are:

* Proactively managed for performance and system health

* Protected by security controls consistent with established standards

* Managed and maintained to remain secure as the threat environment changes

* Effectively monitored by internal and third party security event monitoring systems

One of the primary responsibilities for this role is responding to Information Security inquiries regarding anomalous events and security incidents.

Also, this role is responsible for performing various required system and application access reviews, as well as participating in the ongoing development and maintenance of the security administration program.

Responsibilities also include problem identification and resolution related to the systems named above, as well as assisting other Bank personnel as requested. This role also works under management direction on new projects and initiatives.

Persons in this position are assigned primary responsibility for one or more installed security systems and will have secondary responsibility for one or more additional systems.


* Configures and installs IT security systems in accordance with licensing agreements.

* Configures and deploys software according to Bank policies and procedures while adhering to licensing requirements.

* As one of the Banks subject matter experts (SME) in IT security, this role provides knowledge transfer, training and guidance to other members of the IT team and Bank staff outside of IT as appropriate.

* Provides input addressing IT security concerns to IT solutions architecture efforts designing and developing new business solutions.

* Participates in, and occasionally leads, solution architecture efforts within the IT security realm.

* Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with members of the Banks Information Security and Risk Management teams.

* Responds to, devises and implements mitigation efforts to Bank IT infrastructure threats, vulnerabilities and breaches.

* Participates, and occasionally leads investigatory efforts into security breaches and incidents, and participates in developing appropriate mitigation strategies.

* Develops and maintains high levels of knowledge of Bank systems and software, and of the capabilities of those systems and applications.

* Creates and maintains accurate diagrams and documentation of supported systems and applications.

* Participates in the development of Bank IT policies, standards, procedures and processes, as well as their maintenance.

* Develops and maintains Bank IT security best practices in accordance with business needs and industry recommendations.

* Participates in Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity exercises.

* Established and maintains good working relationships

* Provides outstanding customer service

* Other responsibilities as assigned.

Business Partner Relations:

* Coordinates tasks/activities with the Banks business partners as directed.

* Informs stakeholders of relevant activities

Compliance and Control:

* Assists in ensuring that the Bank complies with local, state and federal regulations.

* Adheres to applicable Bank policies, processes and procedures.

* Operates within the change control framework as it pertains to IT operations.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent required; four-year college degree or equivalent work experience required; business experience and graduate degree preferred.

* Relevant security certifications strongly preferred.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills.

* Strong analytic skills; ability to leverage multiple tools to produce accurate and reconcilable data.

* Demonstrated abilities and experience with some, coupled with understanding of all of the following technologies: Server & Desktop Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, etc.); Directory Services; IP Networking; Perimeter & Endpoint security software, systems and appliances; Intrusion Detection Systems; Vulnerability Detection and Remediation Systems; User Access Management Systems.

* Strong documentation skills, to include proficiency with MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-Visio.

* Familiarity with Scripting user and network management tasks; (eg, Powershell, Perl)

* Experience working successfully with third-parties in the course of troubleshooting or business-as-usual (IBM, HP, Telecom providers, etc.)

* The desire and ability to maintain knowledge and skill currency within the fast-changing technological realm.

* The ability to successfully participate in team endeavors.

* The ability to provide effective training for other members of the Banks IT team.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
