About our Enterprise Data Services group

Our Enterprise Data Services group is responsible for Albany's Global Data Centers that house many of the Enterprise Systems, including SAP, Intranet and Sharepoint. Our professional team of engineers works with the latest in new infrastructure technologies in combination with other GIS departments to ensure a functional, well-performing, reliable, and secure environment for our enterprise applications and communications needs.

Description

The Data Center Systems Administrator role is to operate and manage the Global Data Centers in alignment with the Global Information Services (GIS) strategy and objectives in the organization under the direction of the Global Data Center Manager.

Responsibilities

* Implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.

* Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.

* Document the Infrastructure architecture environment and procedures to insure the infrastructure remains cost effective, efficient, and of high quality.

* Maintain expertise in the area of architecture, including industry trends, strategies, and products to ensure that assets are effectively and efficiently utilized.

* Responsible for the provisioning, installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of data center hardware, software and related infrastructure; including/but not limited to VMWare virtualization, NETAPP Storage and HP Servers.

* Accountable for server and backup monitoring, and maintaining appropriate IT infrastructure standards and documentation across multiple operations system and hardware platforms.

Work Conditions

* Minimal domestic and international travel.

* Sitting for extended periods of time.

* Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.

* Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.

* Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

* Off hours/on call support as required.

* BS Degree in computer science or engineering

* MCSA with focus in System Center and Server Technologies

* 0-3 years of experience with datacenter technologies in an administrative role with increasing levels of responsibilities.

* Demonstrated experience in deployment, administration, and integration of basic levels of data center technologies.

* Data Storage Systems and Technologies. ie RAID

* Demonstrated experience with virtualization.

* Three years of experience with Microsoft Technologies.

* Enterprise Backup Software and Configuration experience.

* Strong skills in Microsoft Technologies including but not limited to: SQL, Windows Server, and SharePoint.
