The Software Quality Engineer will support the Infrastructure team in analyzing, designing, building and testing systems impacted by changes to the NBME Infrastructure. The SQA Engineer will review functional requirements and user stories from the infrastructure team; design test plans, write test cases, oversee test strategies and perform testing for assigned applications. The SQA Engineer will be responsible for suggesting and implementing tools and best practices for the QA Center of Excellence, including test case documentation, functional, regression and smoke test automation, platform testing and performance testing. The SQA Engineer will submit and verify defects, maintain documentation of test results to assist in debugging and software modifications, analyze test results to certify functionality and integrations and recommend corrective action upon failures.

  • Minimum 5+ Years hands-on software testing experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
  • Design functional and non-functional test cases that verify requirements and validate functionality
  • Analyze user stories and technical requirements for validity, feasibility and technical soundness and decompose them to extract positive and negative test scenarios and strong acceptance criteria
  • Use methodical and repeatable processes to verify releases meet quality standards prior to deployment
  • Apply Quality Engineering principles throughout the project to identify defect and design flaws
  • Highly self-motivated, goal oriented, and self-directed
  • Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work by tight deadlines.
  • Experience with JAVA and Selenium
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Experience leading and providing estimates on large projects involving multiple QA resources
  • Experience with administering JIRA
  • General SQL/Database Experience
Bachelor's degree in related major or equivalent professional testing experience
